BUSINESS ACCELERATION FOR ENTREPRENEURS (BHUTAN)

Twenty members of a delegation of Australia Awards Short Course recipients from Bhutan will visit Australia including Brisbane and Adelaide over 6 – 18 May 2019 and you’ll have the opportunity to meet and network with group members.

Representatives include the Royal Government of Bhutan – Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Royal University of Bhutan, startups in crafts, digital advertising, ecommerce, food and beverages (deliveries, herbal tea, pickles, mushrooms, snacks), environmental solutions, fashion, horticulture, manufacturing, tourism, industry associations, accelerators and incubators.

These representatives are from a variety of organisations working on specific projects:

  • Ashish Horticulture and Nursery (organise fruits and kiwi producer) – Identify ways to value add and diversify products
  • Association of Bhutanese Industries
  • Bhutan Herbals – Improving lemongrass spray, products and formula, generate jobs for youth and unemployed people
  • Bhutan Himalayan Natural Mushroom – Producing mushroom and mushroom products, and encouraging more youth farmers to take up mushroom farming
  • Bhutan Molay Travels – Empowering women as a mandate in the Tourism Sector, works exclusively with female guides, hoteliers and other service providers
  • CDK (sustainable fashion) – Implementing a website and online ecommerce site for clothing and accessories made from left over materials
  • Druk Digital Advertisement – Developing digital signage systems with new applications inspired from Australia
  • Druk Ride – Overcoming accessibility issues for customers with disabilities
  • Druksell – Taking Bhutanese products through ecommerce to global markets
  • Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment Division, Department of Employment and Human Resources, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources – Designing an acceleration program adopting the best practices from Australia
  • Green Vibes – Taking the smoothie business to the next level with new products and expansion, branding and marketing
  • iHub Bhutan (coworking and incubation) – Bringing together startup, government, and entrepreneurial stakeholders for a National Entrepreneurship Congress
  • Jigme Namgyek Engineering College – Developing a short term entrepreneurship training program to enhance students with skills in business opportunities, innovation thinking, confidence building and improvement of self-esteem and social awareness
  • Kinz Farm Mushrooms – Sharing learning from Australian producers and business with team members by setting up a model farm for youth
  • Kunzer Fabrication (manufacturer of green electric  cookers) – Exploring entrepreneurship and innovation for bulk electric cookers
  • Nadopoizokhang (manufacturing Bhutanese incense) – Expanding the business and constructing a second factory
  • Oie Dish8Door (food delivery) – Augmenting risk management including external factors and improving operations
  • Shaoulee Food Products (organic food) – Designing a business improvement plan including marketing, financial and human resource management
  • Sushi’s Candles and Crafts – Learning about candle making to scale up, branding, product design and marketing
  • TSHEJOR’S AYZEY (chilli based products, dried and candied fruits) – Improving management of administration, coordination and retention of staff

About Bhutan

Officially the Kingdom of Bhutan (Druk Gyal Khap), is a landlocked country in South Asia.  Located in the Eastern Himalayas, it is bordered by China in the north, and India on the east, south and west.  Bhutan is geopolitically in South Asia and is the region’s second least populous nation after the Maldives with 800 000 people.
